WHAT: An arcade lock-in!
WHERE: Sandy Nickelcade - 798 East 9400 South in Sandy
WHEN:Friday, 3rd of December 2010 (night of the 3rd, going into Saturday the 4th)
WHO: This lock-in is open to all ages!
WHY: Because. Um... it's awesome!
How much: Admission for this event is $20 per person and includes food, drink, games on freeplay, and entry into several prize giveaways (some prizes valued at $60 or more).

So what is a lock-in?: When the arcade locks it's front doors, and does not unlock them until a set time early the next morning. During this time, games may be on freeplay, food and drink may be offered, events may take place and prizes may be given away. Anyone who enters a lock-in can leave anytime they want to, but they will not be allowed back in. Special exception is given for some circumstances. The idea is to stay "locked-in" to a place all night, then go home the next morning.

How do I sign up?: We will begin taking sign-ups for the lock-in all day Friday the 3rd of December, and continue taking sign-ups until closing time at 1am. We may allow an additional grace period of about 30 minutes or so, but after that, no other signups for entry will be taken. You must pay the entry fee in order to be allowed to stay in the arcade past 1am. Minors will need to provide us with emergency contact information, and parents are more than welcome to attend the lock-in with their child.

Isn't $20 pretty expensive?: This is the fee that we came up with which will allow us to run the event and pay for operating costs. The fee does include food, drinks, games on freeplay and prizes, some of which are valued at more than $60.

Tell me more about these prizes!: When you pay for your entry into the lock-in, you will be given a ticket. On one half of the ticket, write down your name, and hand it back to the person at the front counter. The other half is the ticket stub. KEEP THIS STUB! IT IS YOUR PROOF OF PAYMENT FOR THE ENTRY FEE, AND WILL ALLOW YOU TO PICK UP YOUR PRIZE. Every couple of hours starting at 2am, we will draw 1 or 2 names for prizes. We may either call out the ticket number, or the name written on the stub. If your name or stub number matches what we call out, you will simply approach the counter and show us your stub to redeem your prize. Entrants must be present in order to win a prize. We will not hold prizes. After we call your name, you will have about a minute to come up to the counter to redeem your prize. If you don't come up to the counter, we will draw another name. These prizes are non-redeemable for cash.

What prizes will you be giving away?: You'll have to come to the event to find out . But one of the prizes may be a downloadable copy of WoW: Cataclysm from the blizzard store.

Which games will be on freeplay?: The Sandy Nickelcade will place some games on freeplay for the event. These games have not been revealed to us just yet, but we know that only arcade games will be on freeplay. Redemption games will not be set to freeplay.

What kind of food and drink will be there?: We will most likely have some kind of pizza. We will have both meat and cheese available, and we will try to purchase as much as needed for the lock-in. Drinks will be the fountain drinks that are behind the counter at the Nickelcade.

What about those events you were talking about?: In addition to the games on freeplay, we will also be hosting a few additional gaming events (contests/tournaments) such as a dance game event and another event that will be revealed at the lock-in. These events will be open to all ages, and rules on these events will be available at the lock-in. Your entry fee pays for entry into these events.

What else will be available at the lock-in?: Several members of the local music game community will be bringing televisions, consoles and games with them to the event, which we will set up in the party room. These games are most likely to be some kind of music game, but other games may be brought as well.

You can register an account and post for free. You may also find the Sandy Nickelcade on Facebook, or search for UtahDDR or Beatgamer on facebook and post your questions there. The only information that the Sandy Nickelcade staff has regarding this event is what you just read.

More info on the WoW: Cataclysm giveaway: Any person who pays the $20 entry fee and stays throughout the entire lock-in is eligible to win the copy of Cataclysm. This will be a downloadable copy of the game only, we are not purchasing a physical copy of the game. The winner of the copy will be able to redeem their prize when the game is released, either on or after the 7th of December 2010. Availability is dependent on Blizzard's servers, meaning that if the server gets hammered enough on the night of release, you may not be able to retrieve your copy immediately. The WoW: Cataclysm drawing will work a little differently than the other drawings. Immediately before the drawing we will call out the names on the tickets to determine if that person is present. Those who do not immediately reply that they are present will be removed from the drawing. After that elimination, we will return the names of people who are present to the prize pool. We will then draw 10 names. From those 10, we will eliminate them one by one (either by giving them smaller prizes or by simply returning their names to the prize pool) until we have one ticket left. That ticket will be the winner of the copy of WoW: Cataclysm.

Hi Skarmflames. I'm Robby (aka kat/mkat/and others) from Beatgamer. We organized this event

There will be permission slips available at the Sandy Nickelcade on Friday. Simply pick one up, have them sign for you, then bring it back to get your admission bracelet. We require these to be filled out for minors simply for legal reasons.

So this all sounds awesome, but I'm a little strapped for cash... Yeah, I can't even spare $20. D:
